Baby's first destructive act!

Today I went to the grocery store and came home to the scene in the pic on right! His foster mom warned me that he would sometimes get into the trash so most of the time I take it out with me when I leave. But I naively assumed if there was no food in the trash then he would not get into it! Now I understand that it is a separation anxiety thing. Other days when I have left I have stuffed a kong for him to play with but I didn't do that since I was only going to be out briefly... I am not sure how I expected him to know that! Poor guy! On top of it all he had not had a good walk today because it has been raining non-stop. He has gone outside to pee but comes in again quickly when it is raining. Anyway I have stocked up on things to keep him busy while I am out (ironically I bought them while he was home busy with the trash!). So far he has been patient while I learn these little things! Such a good boy! Tonight he is going to a party with me, I know he will have fun with the other dogs there!
