Taming the Vanderlust

This evening I went out to do yard work and let Moose sit outside with me. I usually can not do this because he is given to wandering off and not hearing his name until he has explored a yard or two. But I just got a tie out for him that looks like a long telephone cord so he can sit with me while I am out there. The great thing about this is that I am unclipping it for short periods and rewarding him for staying put and I can also practice coming when called while he is loose in the yard. He has been great! Now that weather is cooling down it will be nice to be able to do things in the front yard with him. Before I would have to leave him inside which he was often unhappy about! Tonight he did his part to pick up the coconuts- this is the first task to mowing the lawn with a push mower- there can be no debris even the size of a twig in the yard! It is a little counter productive since he shreds them into little pieces but he has fun doing it! I guess now I will never be able to convince him that toys do not grow on trees! 8-)
