(the red thing in this picture) but once he is there the step is too small for him to put his back paws on so I can see why that won't work for him. I am going to have to figure out something b/c he wants to go in so badly it is awful that he just can't do it. He runs back and forth looking for a better way in. While I was swimming mini-laps he got all excited and ran back and forth. Poor guy! It was a lot of exercise for him though. He is exhausted now.

Bathmophobia returns
Well tonight was my first swim and I was all set to let moose in first but unfortunately he would not go (click for video)! I was not surprised that he was afraid to go down the steps but I was surprised that he would not jump in. I stayed in for at least an hour and it was great- I forgot how much I love swimming! I was also trying to lure him into the pool after an hour I got him to put two paws on the first step in order to get his Wubba

i had the same problem with benley when he was a year old and was first introduced to the pool. aren't labs and goldens supposed to just know how to get in the water?! anyhow, i kneeled on the side of the pool and made small waves and bubbles with my hand. benley first started trying to bite the water, then paw with one leg at a time, and finally he just paddled right in. it took about 20 mins to get his blonde butt in the water, but after that it was impossible to keep him out. he's not scared of the bath now either- when he is super thirsty (after awhile outside) or dirty he will sit in the bathtub and wait for me to turn on the faucet. good luck with yours!! xoxo
