Been Caught Stealing

Some of you may recall a previous post where I explored Moose's Pantry raiding abilities so I would know where I could safely store 'foodables'. It was speculated by many of you that he was holding back and acting like he could not reach the higher shelves. Well.... you guessed it! A few days ago he pulled a package of english muffins off of the safe shelf so I decided to set up my camera on the timelapse video mode and see what he did when I left.

I left for 45 minutes and all of the exploring was in the first 5 minutes which answered another question I have always had. Does he get into trouble because I am gone too long or is he just waiting for me to leave so he won't get caught? Apparently it is the latter. He wasted no time as you can see...

Here is a still frame from the video for proof! None of the stuff he got down was edible since the pantry has been re-Moose proofed but one of the things he got down was from the safe shelf so there is double proof!

P.S. This sooper sekrit footage was made possible by this Gorillapod thing. Hee hee!

P.P.S. A few alert readers have suggested that leaving the doors open was some sort of entrapment... In the first post on this matter you can see why! Short story... last time I left them closed he broke them trying to get in!

  1. Entrapment!

Someone left the doors standing wide open. He thought a squirrel had opened the doors, climbed in and was ransacking the 'allegedly' safe shelf!

Besides, how do you know he didn't have a package that needed to go to FedEx too?

  2. We call it "trolling" -- it happens in the first few minutes of our departure and it is only counter-top high unless there is a convenient chair to hop on -- but it is imevitable.

We have a gorilla pod too -- they are very useful.

  3. Awwww...I think Moose should plead innocent by reason on insanity...it would drive me CRAZY if the pantry doors were left open too..

Thats quite tempting for a big Moosie like Moose!

  7. Moose, you are so busted. We agree it was entrapment but we noticed you do have a conscience---- you kept checking to see if the coast was clear. Too bad you didn't notice the robot camera spying on you.

  8. Hey Moose,

Dude you were soooo set up.

I'm pretty sure I was a box of tissues get knocked down. In the future you might want to tear that open and shred it about the house. I mean if yer gonna get in trouble you night as well have some fun.

    I'm just sayin.

  9. Actually I just figured it out. If you look very carefully, you can see a zipper. That's not really Moose - I think it's a flock of squirrels in a Moose costume!

  12. Hey Moose - I do think leaving the doors wide open is unfair invitation!!

And I thought you were actually very good - I mean, although you climbed up several times, I didn't see you actually TAKE anything from that shelf!! I was also laughing at the way you would periodically stop and stand as if listening, to see if anyone was coming to catch you red-pawed!! :-)
