True Colors Thursday... Blue!

Since my marine life pics seem to interest some visitors I will regularly include them in my True Colors Thursday posts. This week's color is blue and what could be more blue than the ocean! The amazing thing about it is there is a huge range of blues that I have seen in the color of the water alone! This pic is a panorama I shot from the top of the lighthouse at Carysfort Reef. I stitched together about 5 pics to make this image spanning the shallow backreef waters on the left to the offshore waters on the right.

One of my favorite blue fish is the Midnight Parrotfish. However here is a whole 'flock' of them ravaging my beloved Elkhorn Coral. I have never seen this particular type of parrotfish do this until one day last summer at Molasses Reef. You can see all the coral sand they are kicking up in their frenzy (see it is cloudy around them).

This is a Queen Angel fish (see the blue crown). They are really common all over the Caribbean but this was taken in Navassa Island (near Haiti).

And now for something completely different (well... different ocean at least)! I took this pic of a seal and some fish on a trip to Ni'ihau, one of the Hawaiian islands. This is a bit different from what I usually see around here in Florida! Nothing in this pic is blue but the water was pretty close to the clearest blue water I have seen!

This urchin pic was also taken in Hawaii. Notice the subtle iridescent blue at the base of the spines. It was a bit more striking in person but you will have to take my word for it!

I did not take any new pics of our blue stuff because I have been very busy this evening. I just learned that the Mooselodge has TERMITES and we are quite blue about it!
This meme is hosted by Blue, and next week's color is brown. Next to blue and silver I really love brown so I am sure I will find something other than termite riddled wood to share! 8-(
