Holiday Wrap Up and an Award

The last holiday cookie was eaten today.

My girlfriends aunt made them for me and I went absolutely wild for them! But now they are gone.

Two out of three Christmas stuffies have been de-capitated or gutted (wiener dogs are tough... who knew?).

Momma put away all the stupid hats and there is no more leftover turkey, so all of this means the holidays are officially over!

Here are some random events from December that missed the blog.

Momma went on a cleaning frenzy and cleaned beds, collars, toys and even my girlfriends and I! Here we are right after the bath waiting for our good dog oinkies!

Here I am trying to find some where to sleep while all of my bed covers were being washed at the same time (I mean really... can't she do one at a time?)

Here is Swissie trying to figure out how to get her toy out of the washer. You can see in this little movie that she was very perplexed about it!

There was a very scary storm that required me to hole up in my storm shelter for several hours.

The upside is that it made lots of sticks for me to play with.

Including this big one that nearly took out the Moose mobile! I did not get to play with it before some scary truck with loud machines chewed it up and took it away.

And now for the award!

Dog Daze bestowed the Superior Scribbler award on me! Don't worry though, they gave it to me January 2nd which was before I was named as a Mango Minster Judge so it should not be viewed as a bribe in any way.
Since this post is so long I will send you to Dog Daze to read about it. I am supposed to pass it on to 5 deserving bloggers.
So here goes:
Barkalot Boyz- Go read today's post about how it is so cold it is raining iguanas here in Florida!
Jerry Sweet Sucks- I just met them last month- two wrinkly black dogs!
Corgi Country- They are not kidding either, there are enough corgis there to start a country for sure! I am starting to think Corgi's come in sets because I don't think I have ever seen just one.... hmmm
Jazzi's World- OMD you must go help her, she is about to be used as a draft animal!
Dog Eared- there are 11 doggies in their house at the moment and all together they still weigh less than Moose! Curious? Check them out!
Thanks Dog Daze!

High ate us! (and visitors and awards)

I am not sure what is going on around here. I asked momma why we have not visited our blog friends or posted any real blogs for the past few days and she said because 'High ate us'! I was very alarmed! I am not sure who or what 'high' is but if anything 'ate us' it was this:

It is an 'inedible apple' and has caused lots of general confusion and blank stares around here. I remember that something similar happened to my pal Mango a few months ago when he went In Commune Mikado because of the arrival of an inedible apple! I hope this does not last much longer. I had to insist that momma at least do this quick post because we got an award from our pal Mango!
Thanks Mango! He even said I was kinda 'cool' for a Labradork! High honors indeed! We will have to get caught up on our friends blogs so we make sure to pass it on to someone who has not already gotten it but we wanted to at least say thanks to the Mango!

Also, My girlfriends are here! Not the one who growled at me a few weeks ago but my real girlefriends Swissie and Jetta. We have loads of fun.

Momma tried to hand out some new toys that were in the pantry and she she turned around and was totally cornered! She said she felt like she was at some kind of Black Friday sale and told us not to trample her!

Not the Tricky T-Day Contest & Inspiration

We just realized that today is the deadline for Ludo's Not the Tricky T-Day contest so Moose wanted to enter one of his favorite non-tricks... Couch Surfing! Though in the interest of full disclosure, it was taken while watching his favorite show: 'It's Me or the Dog' He will stop and watch the Tee Vee when he sees or hears dogs on it but when this show is on he will sometimes plant himself down and watch quite attentively! Hopefully since it is a show about tricks and training it will not get us disqualified from the Not-Trick contest!

It was easy to get these pics because it has been a lazy rainy saturday on a long weekend, so what could be better than snuggling up and zoning out! Of course when the thunder starts he heads off to the storm shelter for safety but once it passes and he hears dogs barking on the Tee Vee then he will come out!

UPDATE: Voting is up at Ludo's! Head over and vote for my Moose! You just need to click the box #32 on the right sidebar. http://ludwigvanpup.blogspot.com/

Also, our buddy Parker gave us an award for providing inspiration during his TPLO surgery recovery. Moose had the same surgery a week before him and it has been nice to have a buddy to share the ups and downs with! We were really touched that he thought of us. We would like to pass the award onto Honey and Ludo who have been very inspirational in our latest training efforts! I had sort of let some of my Moose training goals slide in the past year and they have helped get me motivated again and it has been fun and rewarding! Thanks pups!

Slobberific!

We were very excited to see that Moose won the prop-assisted slobber category over at Honey's Spectacular Slobber contest! His winning entry demonstrated the true strength of his slobber! The amazing thing is, there were days where the strings of gravel were even longer, this is just the one time I managed to get it on camera ;-) Not too shabby though! Thanks to everyone who voted for Moose and Congrats to the other Winners: Mango, Max and Raja.

Moose's response to this news was (note the drool slung over his beak):
Thanks Honey!

Moose & Squirrel (crasher) and Tanks alot!

So awhile ago we saw a hilarious pic on Sophie's blog and have since learned that the squirrel that crashed that photo has been making his way around the internets and crashing lots of peoples photos. So we looked through some of our photos to see if he had made his way into any of them and lo and behold... This pic of my Moose at the park enjoying a dip was crashed by this nefarious rodent!

Also we were so excited to be one of the winners from Tank's 247 post party and are even more excited that he was so generous in donating a whole lot more than his two cents to Moose's favorite charity LRRoF (and several other winners too). So, Tanks alot Tank! I am very sorry that you had to share this post with squirrels but if anyone can stop this bugger it will be you!

Update: We just learned of some very sad news from our friend Max who could really use some comfort and strength right now. Please stop over and leave a note.

Bad Blogger!

I am afraid that summer is my busy season so I have to apologize for not being a very attentive blogger. This time of year I am out on the water working hard most days and come home very tired. Plus I travel some too (next week Curacao) making it hard to keep up with things. Although today is Thursday I have not had time (last week either) to do a True Colors Thursday post and may not do them again until things slow down a bit in the fall. I really enjoy doing them, but they take more time than the average post!
Another thing I have fallen hopelessly behind on is acknowledging awards! It is very ungracious of us and if you have left awards for us that I have failed to acknowledge I am sorry! I keep thinking I will get to them on the weekend but being a new homeowner keeps me busy on the weekends and then I can't remember who left what for us! Please don't be offended if this has happened or continues to happen, we do appreciate them and it is always a nice surprise!
I am going to try to keep up with posting and visiting our many favorite blogs (an ever expanding list!) but you may notice shorter and fewer posts for the next few months:-( I have tried to teach Moose to type so he could take over but he has not quite gotten the hang of it. Plus I am pretty sure he would be on here all day asking if anyone knew where his mom went, how to open the fridge and if anyone would like to come take him for a walk. I can imagine coming home to deliveries of crates of oinkies and stuffies and he might even start trolling the web for hot labragals! We can't have that!

I neglected to mention in our last post that we have hit the big TWO ZERO ZERO! I was not sure I would keep it up when I started almost 2 years ago but here we are! It has been a lot of fun but even more fun thanks to our visitors! It is always nice to feel appreciated so we were especially flattered that we received 2 more awards while we were away!

The first was from Wally T Corgador and here is what it says:
“This award is presented to those dog bloggers out there who know the meaning of GREATNESS. Their blogs are consistently interesting, funny, or informative. Their KINDNESS is extended to others without expectation of it’s return, and their FRIENDSHIP inspires others to do EXTRAORDINARY things. These are the blogs you can’t wait to read everyday. In short, they are AWE-INSPIRING, full of wonder, and simply PAWsome!Pass this award on to 4 others who you feel exemplify a “Paw”some Blog, and leave a note saying why you think they deserve the Pawsome Award!”

Moose is Blushing! We think all of the blogs we follow are 'pawsome' so it is hard to pick just 4! We would like to pass it on to:
  • Buddy, Zack and Sassy over at DogDaze. Buddy is even bigger than my Moose and was just today diagnosed with 'extra junk in his trunk'! Go and check out that 'wagon he's draggin'!
  • Nanook and Pooka for their many wonderful public service announcements and outreach with some very awesome kids! Plus they are celebrities, now immortalized in some lovely portraits!
  • Bolo who entertains us all the time with his snuffle face! His new header is truly 'pawesome' so it almost makes up for not having a new picture in his post for us today ;-)
  • Minnie Moo and her brother Sno who are hosting a pawesome face in hole challenge that has taken off like crazy! If you have not tried it yet go here: http://www.faceinhole.com/us/ make one, post it on your blog and tell Minnie that you did by leaving a comment for her!

The 2nd award was from Indie and Rufus at Double Woof!
We are supposed to pass it on to our favorite newly discovered blogs so we would like to pass it on to Life With Dogs! We were recently turned onto their trials and tribulations with one 'Mr Stick'!

Thanks everyone!

Another award

Moose is speechless that he has won his FOURTH award!
 This award is given:
  • As a dedication for those who love blogging activity and love to encourage friendships through blogging.

  • To seek the reasons why we all love blogging!

  • Put the award in one post as soon as you receive it

  • Don’t forget to mention the person who gives you the award.
Thanks Rufus and Indie! I think they are our most distant visitors (Portugal)!
  • Answer the award’s question by writing the reason why you love blogging.
We have met lots of awesome pups and peeps through blogging! We started when I first adopted Moose because I wanted to keep his foster mom and my friends and family updated without flooding their email with huge attachments and stories of the BESTEST DOG EVER (at least in my book) because we all know I would have! But after all this time I have also come to love that I can look back on things and remember things I probably would not remember AND it is a nice bonus to have people stop by and share too.
  • Tag and distribute the award to as many people as you like.
Oscar Tinkerbell and Tucker who have alerted us to yet another scam ;-)
Behr Behr who must be hibernating since she has not posted in days!

Awards

Mango and pee-wee oops I mean Dexter gave us TWO awards the other day and we are honored! We think Bolo's blog is fabulous so would like to pass the award to them! We also think Jack's blog is fabulous. His daily posts are short and sweet and never fail to make us laugh!

The honest scrap award means we are supposed to tell you 10 honest scraps about Moose. Moose said he felt more comfortable telling you himself so here he is:

  1. I love Carrots! Sometimes when I get a little distracted or don't hear my name being called Momma will ask me if I want a carrot and suddenly I can hear clear as a bell and come running!
  2. I have a little bit of a drooling problem and often end up with drool on my head or have a bunch of sticks, leaves and gravel hanging from the long strings of drool! Momma used to tease that they should bottle it for when you need something sticky and slimey at the same time, but then she found out that they already do! I am not sure what they do to my drool to make it into beer but I am awaiting a royalty check for their use of a depiction of me drinking water on the label!
  3. When momma asks 'who do you love'? I give her a big kiss, but the truth is I only do this because she gives me crackers when I do it. I mean, I love her and all but unless she has food on her face I don't see the point of licking her!
  4. I apparently have a 'defective' ear. My ear flaps lie down like they are supposed to most of the time and when I am smiling they go back a little like all labs but when I am out of my mind beside myself happy both ears go back but the one on the right flips up in a funny way (I guess it is funny b/c it makes momma giggle and call me 'defective')! She has tried to get a picture of it but this is an unpredictable event that is accompanied by ALOT of wiggling!
  5. I love being tall! When momma leaves the house and forgets to put the yummy stuff on the floor for me, I can easily help myself to it... even if she leaves it pushed all the way back.
  6. I woofel ferociously at anyone who approaches the moose lodge but the minute they get within petting distance I waggle all over the place! I figure, if they are not afraid of my ferocious act then momma must have already told them I am a big smooshy boy so they must be friends... right?
  7. I know I am a Labrador but what is this business about retrieving??? You threw it, you can go get it yourself! Unless it is something tuggable, I do not see the point of bringing YOU things that I want to play with!
  8. And while we are at it, yes I love water but honestly prefer to have my paws planted firmly on the bottom if it is all the same to you. I know they are webbed for swimming but walking or lying in water is just as good!
  9. I was terribly afraid of stairs until momma convinced me it was ok. She did a pretty good job convincing me but there are some situations where things are not right (and I won't tell her what that means) for me to go up and down them. When I hurt my leg I got a free pass to avoid stairs, one good thing about being hobbled!
  10. I miss Teddy somethin' terrible and wish I was not an only dog. Luckily momma knows this and feels so guilty about it that she takes me places to play with other dogs (at least she did before my leg got hurt).
So there you have it! Momma said I could pick whoever I wanted to know more about as long as they have not already been tagged so I am going to tag:

  1. Parker
  2. Jack
  3. Rufus and Indie
p.s. Blogger is being difficult today so apologies for the wonky formatting!
