True Colors Thursday...St. Patty's day edition (i.e. Green)

Green! What color did you expect for St. Patty's day True Colors Thursday!

There is a whole lotta green goin' on here at the moose lodge so we will have to start off with that... Just look at my increasingly green lawn! We are beside ourselves excited that it is growing in! Parts of it are ready to be mowed but not sure I want to try that just yet...

We are also going nanners here at the moose lodge or should I say the moose plantation house! I have several banana plants and one of them is sporting some beautiful green bananas! Too bad this is the one fruit I will not eat, but they are still pretty to look at!

And now for Marine Greens! This is a solitary coral so it is all one polyp and they can be several different colors but this one was fluorescent green! They are 3-4" across which is pretty big for a single polyp!
This is a Cowrie snail trucking along on some green algae. Cowrie's are one of the few shells you will find that are smooth and shiny and that is because the snail's body extends out over the shell and keeps other stuff from depositing on it. You see these in shell shops but please don't ever buy shells, they are harvested in highly destructive ways and finding them on the beach is more fun anyway!

This is a cactus coral living in the Bahamas. You may recall seeing a similar coral when we covered Brown and this is a close relative! Like the cup coral above it is fluorescing green light!

This is a crown of thorns starfish I saw in Hawaii. They feed ravenously on corals and occasionally have a population explosion that kills huge areas of coral very quickly. Fortunately for us, they do not occur in Florida or the Caribbean. We would surely have no coral left if they did!

Here is Moose conked out in the car after an exhausting day in Miami. His towel is green and his overnight bag is also green.

Moose's toothbrush is green too, of course he thinks it is a toy with beef flavored goo on it that I insist on tormenting him with, but in fact it is a toothbrush!

This meme is hosted by Blue, and next week's color is beige.... sounds like it could be a bit boring but I will have to see what I can do about that!

  1. Hello Moose! Just dropping by to say that your toothbrush is cute. Cuter than Rufus' toothbrush because yours is in one piece! :)
    Good night(in Portugal)!

As ever the Marine images were fascinating - confesss to having a Cowrie shell!

Had to smile @ Moose having his teeth brushed, my Welsh Terrier 'nephew' Taffy, also enjoys this nightly fun, his goo is chicken flavoured - lol!

  7. Ooooh--I would take some of those bananas! Even green ones.

And my sissy Morgan, who was a lab mix, used to like to eat my ear AND eye boogers! I love my Laboogers!
