True Colors Thursday... Lime

True Colors Thursday is a meme hosted by Blue and this weeks Color is Lime Green. The first thing that pops into my mind since I live in the Keys is Key Limes! Although the trees are not native to the Keys (not sure why they are called that), the trees are usually pretty easy to find, I guess unless you are looking for them so you will have to settle for the store bought fruits... not terribly imaginative I know. If you are not familliar with them, you will notice that they vary from yellow to green and are smaller and more round than their 'normal' cousins!
I must admit to having lots of trouble finding Lime Green in the ocean but was able to find this photo of the elusive yellow-spotted parrotfish... No? You are not buying it are you? Still this is an adorable little ornament that belonged to my mother so thought I would share it!
OK, Here is an actual Parrotfish! There are loads of different kinds including the Midnights that I posted awhile ago. This is a Stoplight Parrotfish and this terminal phase is very colorful and lime green is one of the colors... I told you I was scraping the bottom of the barrel for lime! If it looks like it is laying on the bottom, that is because it is! This was taken on a night dive and they sleep laying or leaning on the bottom or other corals on the reef!
Here is another Stoplight sleeping on my beloved Elkhorn coral!
This is a solitary coral and you may recall a similar one was included in my green post last month. It is pretty cool that corals can fluoresce bright green and other colors but I believe that stripes beats all! This is the only coral I know of with stripes!
Here are Moose and Teddy fighting over the late 'dino-cuz' who is no longer with us! I won't go into the details but will spare you pics of lime-green chunks in Teddy's poo!
Here is Teddy posing proudly with the lime green snake he bravely wrestled and killed for us... You can see the numerous bite wounds he inflicted with his labrashark jaws! Luckily it did not bite him back... the goof!
Next week's color is Rust which seems appropriate as I will be another year older and probably feeling a little rusty myself! Hopefully I will be able to find more stuff than I did this week 8-(
P.S. We got not one but TWO blog awards today and I will blog about them this weekend when I have more time. Thanks Relentlessly Huge and Pee-Wee

  6. Great job with Lime! Teddy was very brave to fight off that snake! I fought a snake like that once but it was black and attached to Owner Girl's laptop. I guess she kinda liked that snake though cuz she wasn't very happy that I killed it!
