Cow Eggs!

I remember these things!
My pal Jack calls theses kinda balls "Cow Eggs", I call them delicious! So here's the background... My former dad who gave me to lab rescue dropped me off at my foster home with my bed, supper bowls, a Kong, a squeaky toy and like 5 cow eggs in various states of destruction. When my momma finally found me there and brought me home she did not think these cow eggs were very good toys for me  so she tossed the ABC (already been chewed) ones and put the other 2 away in my box of non-toy stuff.

Hmmm... smells really familiar!
The other day she found one in the box and thought if I had survived to the age of 5 1/2 playing with these things that maybe it was not such a bad toy (even if I had skinned and unraveled them in the past). So she brought the old one out and let me have it!
I sniffeled it for about an hour!

Where have you been hiding all this time old friend?!

Delicious! I went to town on this cow egg thing! Have you guys tried them? They are delicious! I got what my momma calls 'crazy eye' while I was eating it.... er um... I mean playing with it. I swear I am just playing with it!

Most yummers! It is like a raw hide and a toy all rolled into one (rolled... ha ha ha).

See you can pull the wrapper right off and it is totally edible!

I guess momma did not want me to eat it all at one time because she took it away before I could finish it. Sheeesh!

Here is how far I got after 7 min:
I can't wait to finish it!

***Note from momma: I was curious to see what he would do with it after all this time and thought maybe I was being an over protective new mom by not letting him play with them when I first brought him home. But gotta say after seeing this I would never let him play with baseballs, he ate the piece that he pulled off. Obviously he did this routinely in his first home as some of the ones that he came with were totally skinned. Who would think this is good for a dog (given that he is EATING them not just playing with them). It is interesting to me that he destroys all sorts of toys but NEVER eats the parts except for this! So even with the bleach and dye and glue this must still taste like cow to him! Also interesting to me is that after 2 1/2 years in a box it still smelled like his old home because he sniffed forever before he lit into it. I would love to know what he was thinking!

  1. I love the fact that you kept the 'cow eggs' for all these years. And that he seemed to recognize them.
I've only been able to keep one cow egg intact and that's because it is our retrieve egg and I take it away after we are done playing!

  2. Hey Moose!
I love the way your Mom experiments with you! BOL! My mom sometimes does that too! Now that she's taken the cow egg away, I think it's time to have a discussion with the peacock!
By the way, I think your shiny coat is terrific! I love you Moose!

  3. Holy COW Eggs.. BATman...
Sorry Moose.. It's baseball season and I just couldn't resist that one.
It is grrreat that your mom kept the cow eggs for you. I nice trip down memory lane for you. BUTT, I don't think that is good rawhide for you to EAT. Best to just let these things... SLIDE. Oops, I did it again.

  5. It seems to me like there is a ton of string inside those things too. I would find another toy for you to chew on. My Mom gives me long rawhides, rolled up like a cigar. Then I chew the ends and it takes me forever to chomp it down. Then Mom takes it away because its getting too small. But I like it while it lasts!

    Cheers, Moose!

  6. I didn't know those were cow eggs! My dad plays with something that looks like that but even bigger, and sometimes they are bright yellow!! Maybe it's an elephant egg?? Moms says its call a "softball", but I'm not buyin' it. The thing is bigger than my head!!!

  8. Some toys are only for brief periods of fun and then they are confiscated. That one sure looks great to me and most nommy but I guess your mom was right to take it away. Sigh.

P.S. Momma is not so amazed at what people give their doggies. If it were up to Master there would be many more of my toys that would be left out all the time because he just doesn't think that I will eat them.

  11. Fenris totally destroyed the soccer balls we had, but he didn't eat them. He has a tennis ball and a special ball made just for dogs and both have survived (so far). We will remember no cow eggs as we know he would tear them up and might eat them like Moose ~AFSS

  14. Ooh, Moose - am glad your human took that ball away from you! I mean, I'm sure it tasted yummy but I think it might give you tummy ouchies and maybe even worse sickies if you keep on eating them!

You are so lucky to have found your Momma and your forever home!
