| I think I am going to need my bed re-stuffed, momma |
Here she is with my squatter piggy. She picked it up for a second and that is it. I think she dropped it when she realized it was not food! Squatter piggy is one of my favorites and if she doesn't like that I am not sure what I can do. Sheesh!
She has not growled at me like the last one did but I still tip toe around her in case she decides to fly off the handle. Momma assures me that even if she wanted to go postal on me that she is so slow I would have plenty of time to get away. I don't know about that... when momma has a treat in her hand she is lightning fast with her jaws of doom! (note from momma- she is very mellow and friendly and there is absolutely no sign she would be aggressive but I think Moose is still skittish after Bella's growls... I think he does not know how to interpret the unrequited play invitations)
She is only here so momma can help her find her own home but then who knows... apparently there is an endless supply of blond girl labbies up in Miami so there will probably be another one. I just want somedoggie who will play with me, is that too much to ask?
Note from momma again: See the brown discolored fur on her paws? I think these are hot spots (lick granulomas) and wondering if any of you have experience with helping them heal? Once they heal will the fur go back to normal? I found this stuff called DermaPaw that sounds pretty good... has anyone tried it? It seems odd that it is in exactly the same place... I have heard dogs do this from anxiety or boredom or it can be allergies too. She does not constantly lick them so I am hoping it won't be too hard to fix and it won't get worse.
Also- for those who have asked about my last post and what I am doing related to the oil spill. We are working to take baseline samples before the oil gets here so nothing heroic like actually cleaning it up or rescuing birds or anything. Current predictions suggest the Florida Keys may be spared from too much oil impacts so keep your fingers crossed for us!

Woo sure know how to pikhk your furiends!
ReplyDeleteWhat a looker AND she knows how to do some fine paw placement!
BTW, Mom rekhalls a breeder person mention Listerine so she googled and found many hits giving that some fluffy tail up points -
Here is just one of them:

Woof! Woof! Oh Moose Bella is cute n seems lovely. Be a good boy n be nice. Mmmm hot spots I think I do get that sometimes due to my allergies. Never tried DermaPaw. Well, have a great weekend. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteMoose, I think your mom is confused. You wanted another TeddyNo type pal, not some fat old gal who won't play with you. You will need to be more specific.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, regarding slow old dogs? Yuh, well, they can move pretty fast when they want to (I should know) so watch your back.
Slobbers,
Mango
Hi ya! Mandy is pretty cute. Sure she is just out of sorts in new places....I'll drop by for some playtime...beam me up ok!!?? How fun would it be to zoomie around and meet new pals :)
ReplyDeletePrayers to the environment...
Hugs and snagglt-tooth kisses,

Wow, Moose, you've landed another challenge there at the lodge! She does look sweet though. Good luck, hope the hot spots clear up and most of all that she finds a good forever home!
ReplyDeleteHeres hoping the next blonde is a playful one!
ReplyDeleteI have the itches too sometimes but probably not as bad as that. Mine don't seem to want to go away but Mum reckons most of it is habit and I nom on them when I am anxious, bored, excited, frustrated etc etc etc. We have tried various thing - collodial silver spray seems to sooth it, but if it gets really bad I end up having to take a course of prednisione (kind of steroid) that suppresses my itching. Mum doesn't put me on it very often as it is only a temporary fix and doesn't solve the problem, it also has many side effects if used long term
Good luck with the oil! My wife has some sort of lavender oil she puts on hotspots when Trixie makes them on her paws. I can ask her what it is ...
ReplyDeleteShe said it's AromaDog hot spot oil that she uses on Trixie.
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew about the pawfur problem, but I don't - hot spots, I hear, are pretty awful. I'm sure Mandy won't bite at you - just get ready to run. Hope she finds a furever home soon! She looks so sweet!
ReplyDeleteHugs xxoxo

Believe it or not - Listerine is great for hot spots, so is peroxide and also, depending on the location, Bond's Gold Powder. All have worked great for me.
ReplyDeleteWe agree with Listerine! She is a lovely lab - nice and curvy.
ReplyDeleteWe would be happy to come play with you although your friend may be more playful when she feels settled.
love
Martha and Bailey xx
ps like our friend Bruce she would also get stuck in the railings!
Hey there
ReplyDeleteBella looks sweet!
Toffee also has a similar problem with his paws...both a grass allergy and obsessive behaviour (Pulls at hair between paws). The important thing (for us) is to keep his feet clean and dry. We were also given a product called "Viocort" when the condition really flared up. To stop his licking we had to bandage up the paws. It's really difficult to change the behaviour of licking paws once it starts.
Good luck! You are doing great work.

Thanks for the info about Listerine! I hope never to have to use it, but it's good to know just in case!
ReplyDeleteYour mom is a nice lady to bring home all these Labbies until they can find their fur-ever homes...
ReplyDeleteand you'rere a good guy to share your space, toys and momma!
Licks and sniffs,
Zack, Sassy and Buddy
Moose - I think it's very good of your human to want to help all these other Labbies although I can see that you might find it a bit disturbing having all these strange new doggies constantly in the house! ;-) BUt hey - they all seem to be lovely girls - I'm sure you and Mandy will warm to each other in no time! :-)
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,

Hi Moose,
ReplyDeleteI am Mr Darcy's (bless his little cotton socks) family's new doggie.
Oh I so understand where you are coming from. Mumma decided to foster a puppy not that long ago. What a hideous creature it was, and it was up to me to teach it everything ofcourse!
Anyway come pver and say hi some time!
your pal,
Digby
