RECALL! Merrick treats

If any of you enjoy Merrick Beef Filet Squares please note that a recall has been issued for them! This is the second lot to be recalled since January!

So if you have any check the dates and lot numbers BUT I suggest being cautious about some of their other products as well. We buy the Lamb filet squares and the bag that we have at the moment is dated 10 days off (11-9-2011) from the first lot of recalled beef squares.

Although I might normally look at the recall and dismiss it as different I think it is no coincidence that moose got terrible poo troubles after eating them 2 weeks ago! Sure he stole a small container of them and ate more (~1 oz) than I would normally give him but given all of the crazy things he has eaten in the past without so much as a burp it seemed odd to me at the time and now with this recall it seems highly suspiscious. His poo troubles resulted in 2 accidents in the house (which has never happened before!) and inspite of pepto, immodium and a variety of food remedies (pumpkin, rice etc) his problems continued until we went to the vet and got antibiotics!
So there you have it... possible coincidence but I will let you decide! I am calling the hotline tomrorow.
