I thought winning first place Bad Sports and 2nd Runner Up for Best in Show was just plain awesome and what could be better? Well, Prizes! That is what! For bad sports I won a new collar from Clara's Collars sponsored by Frankie and for the BIS I won a portrait (sponsored by Kitty and Coco) of my so-handsome-boy self for momma to stare at lovingly when I am off hiding because I did something bad.
The trouble is Momma needs to pick a headshot to send the artist lady. It is a 5x4" portrait so it has to just be my face otherwise I think I would just look like an ink blot! So momma has compiled 'The Many Faces of Moose' photos. The thing that makes me Mooses (for those of you who think all of us Black Labs look alike) is my Bumpkin (the pointy thing on my head) and my long square beak so momma wants to pick a photo that shows my Mooseness.
So below I am posting some of her favorites- feel free to weigh in!
This sort of funny picture is one of momma's favorites- no bumpkin in sight but my beak looks crazy long and square. She was about to get 'SnuffelupaMoosed' in this photo and that always makes her giggle.
This is just a plain old smiley Moose- She probably had food or something...
This is one that kinda shows my bumpkin- I think I was about to say something when she took the photo though. It was probably 'woofel'.
This is...hey! How did that get in the pile! She better not!
This is another one of her favorites- she says I look like a supermodel (ok it was re-touched just like all the super-models)! But since it is already a pretty picture maybe there is no need to make it a painting, huh?
There was definitely promise of food in this one... lookit my drool! I guess that is another thing that makes me Moose but maybe not one that she wants preserved in paint!
This is one that makes me look totally nutters! Although it seems like an unusual photo apparently she has a surprising number that look just like this. I cannot confirm or deny that I will enter MangoMinster 2012 as a Cracker Dog, no further questions at this time.
This is another one of Momma's favorites of me in all my handsomeness- There is a hint of bumpkin and a pretty long beak so it is a good possibility I think!
Considering it took her like 87 hours to pick a collar for me I bet it will be forever before she decides!
From momma: Any suggestions? The artist (Lauren Mitchell) has a somewhat abstract style (at least I think that is how I would describe it but I am no art expert!) and the smaller portrait I think will do best with a more simple image to start with. Even without the background I think the last one might not translate as well to a small canvas. That is actually why I am favoring the first photo. It is probably kind of an odd shot to most people but it captures a certain look that I like about my Moose! I will probably narrow it down to a few and see what the artist thinks will work best! I have always wanted a painting of my Moose so I am thrilled to have the chance!

We likes the very first photo with the arrow pointed to the bumpkin. Perhaps it could be cropped to just be a head shot. Otherwise the cracker dog pic is our all time favourite. Probably cause we relate so well!!! (added by mommy)

I LOVE the first one! And the drool one!
ReplyDeleteMooses must be part Dane... the bumpkin makes me think so, but that first picture... he looks like Darwin! Maybe that's why I like that first picture so much.
I really like the open mouthed ones (the one with the bandana and the one right before it.) I also like the drool one too! Maybe she could just not put the drool in???
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Moose will look awesome in this painting! Can't wait to see the finished product!!

First one looks good to me. Skip that glamour photo. Doesn't even really look like him. The last one is nice, but really, I like the goofy ones better.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
THE FIRST FOTO PLEASE!!!
ReplyDeleteAw Moose - You are handsome!
Love & Licks,
Randi
Oh I like the last one best and the second one second best. That bumpkin is 100% Dane you know. We all got them and thats what we use to give the Mommas black eyes!
ReplyDeletewoof - Tucker
I LOVE the Drool shot.. and really like the furst one too. In this neck of the woods... folks don't think they have a Proper Lab.. without a bumpkin. I'm just sayin buddy.
ReplyDeleteClara's collars rock!

Oh Moose! Sorry this is late but I haven't had a chance yet to wish you CONGRATULATIONS for your Mango Minster wins!! I still think you're too much of a gentleman to really be a Bad Sport but well done! :-)
ReplyDeleteAs for the pictures, well, I have to say, I'm partial to the 'bumpkin' shots but I may be biased, seeing as I am the proud owner of a big bumpkin myself! In fact, I think no doggie head is complete without one! :-)
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
Well, it is unanimous among the Dane and former Dane owners: Moose has some Dane DNA mixed in with that labradog stuff. Mama has thought so from the very first time she saw his photo. We think your mom should pick the photo that makes her smile the most. We're sure the artist can crop the winner so it's just a head portrait.
ReplyDeleteAgain, congratulations! We love all your new title letters after your name. Abby is especially fond of letters after the name.

I like the first photo, it captures his personality and I think it would go well in the abstracty style of the artist.
ReplyDeleteI love the drool peekture, BOL. It's soooo, nuts. If you choose that, you should include the drool, BOL.
ReplyDeleteI much rather like the soopermodel one too.
Woofs,
Pepsi
Mom & I LOVE photo #1!
ReplyDelete-Corbin
They are all wonderful pictures - any would be perfect for it!
ReplyDeleteThat last picture & the "supermodel" picture are both really nice pictures... but the first one is furry cute!

First of all, we're stopping in to offer CONGRATS to you on your MangoMinster wins! Yay! But while we're here, we'll weigh in on our fave Moose photos - all of your pics are captivating, of course, but for a portrait we love plain ole Smiley Moose and supermodel Moose equally. Can't wait to see which YOU choose and the finished painting!
