Week 5 of 'my unfortunate incarceration'

I can't believe it has been 4 weeks + since surgery! Moose seems to be healing well, his incision is visible but has healed very nicely and his fur is starting to grow back. He sometimes walks with no limp at all but definitely still a little slow when he sits down and stands up and he seems to have days that he is more sore than others. He is incredibly cooperative about being in his pen. He has re-learned to ring the bell when he needs a potty outing and can remind me that it is dinner time from inside the pen but every now and then he just looks at me as if to say "Can I come out now, I'll be good" and makes me feel so sad that he might be wondering why he isn't allowed to be out with me anymore. So sad for my boy. I spend time in the evening lying on the floor with him in his pen but aside from that he mostly seems bored. So I try to find new things to keep him busy and today we finished one bag of kibble so I left about 5 pieces in the bag and gave it to him to try to get them out. Pretty entertaining for both of us really!
We are still working on keeping him calm though so have to keep him from getting one of his 'wild hairs' and definitely don't go in the front yard since we might see exciting things so he is still stuck in the back yard and to insult to injury he is on a leash in his own back yard! We have at least another 4 weeks of this assuming all goes well and we are desperately committed to making it go well! Then after that he will be allowed to take actual walks starting at just 5 min though.

  1. Aw, being penned up is totally a bummer, but you have to do it little dude. I like the interactive kibbles bag. Maybe you could take up crossword puzzles.

  2. Moose, pal, I just read all about your surgery. Yikes, what a time you have had. But it looks like it did the trick for you. Momma wants to know how old you are because little pee-wee is a labradude and she is worried that he will hurt hisself in the knee from all the bouncing he does.

When do you get out of prison?

  3. Hi Moose!
I can't imagine what it's like to be cooped up like that all the time, it must be tough! But I'm sure it's going to be worth it and it's for your own good! At least you get lots of cool toys and things to keep you busy!

  4. Hey Moose! Just wanted to check in and see how you were doing with your recovery. Hope you had a good holiday season and that we'll see more of you in the coming year.
