Bedtime (revisited)!

I had to transfer all of the plants out of the flowerbeds on the sides of the house so they would not be killed back when we hosted the termite circus, so Moose has decided they must be dog beds and is always laying in them! The one on this side is shaded and when he wants sun he goes to the bed on the other side. I don't guess I blame him since the rest of the yard is gravel (typical Keys landscaping!). I am looking for a good outdoor bed that can be out in uncovered areas and get rained on w/o being ruined too quickly. We have a Coolaroo dogbed but he won't lie on it unless there is another cushiony bed on top of it! Whatever we get will have to wait until Teddy finds his furever home though since we would not want a repeat of the pillow massacre!
Prior to removing the plants Moose would try to get in and dig to make space to lie down and throw dirt and mulch all over the place so I am not optimistic that I will be able to keep plants in there. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep a moose-free flower bed? I thought of putting something thorny in there and if he only got pricked once or twice I figure that would be ok, but I have a feeling it will not stop him and he will keep getting pricked!

This look translates to: Can't a guy get a little peace?

  1. If you find something that works, please post it!

Jack has decided that holes are full of smells. It's like puppy crack! :)

  2. I do not believe I know of anything to help. Maybe it is just meant to be an outdoor bed. =)

  3. Looks like a great spot for an outside bed. Leave him enough space to lay and he will be so happy. Perfectly accessible to the water tap also!

  4. Wow at least there are no plants there right now. Parker prefers to lay in one spot in our yard where there ARE plants and he lays ontop....LOL

  5. Moose looks so comfy in his flower bed! Sorry I don't know of anything to keep him out. He looks as nice as any flowers I think!

  6. I wouldn't bet on prickly things discouraging Moose from his landscaping. Us labraguys take our jobs very seriously.

That flower bed looks perfect. Nice cool dirt to lie upon and rocks to snuggle up against. Much better than a dumb old dog bed.

I am so glad your mom understands you, Moose buddy.

  7. I just bought Jack a kiddie pool and filled it with sand. He seems to think we're out at the park, so he can dig until he gets tired. 16 hours later, he decides he's tired! But it seems to be working so far!
