This is a tiny Pederson Shrimp I found living in an anemone in Blau Baai in Curacao. It is clear with pretty violet dots!
This sea pansy is a kind of soft coral I also found in Blau Baai in Curacao. They live in sandy areas and not so much on the reef so I am not used to seeing them.
These fish are called Creole Wrasse and they feed on plankton over the reef. This was taken on the edge of a wall in Curacao so the water streams up and over when it hits it and makes for a strong current (note the sea fans in the back ground!) and lots of plankton for these guys!

This is a kind of fan worm. It lives in a tube and pops out these tentacles to trap food. When you swim up to them they get shy and retract but it you hang out for a minute they pop back out.
Here is a violet and yellow hogfish making a total hog of himself! It looks like I snapped the pic just as he snapped up the crab which would be pretty amazing but actually the crab was stuck in the fish's mouth and I followed him around for a good 5 min while he rubbed up against rocks to get the crab out. All the while the crab was trying to pinch him in the eye with his one free claw. I had to get to work so not sure how it ended. Probably not well for anyone involved!
This is one of my favorite pics! Moon Jellyfish have violet tentacles as you can see in this pic taken at Horseshoe Reef in Key Largo. But if you have been following along you will know that pics featuring my beloved Elkhorn coral (yes, I am always going to call it that) are always my favorites! That is my buddy Abel in the background.
Moose's Rescue, Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida has a violet logo.Moose's kibble jug is one of his absolute favorite toys! Since it is empty in this photo I think he was bringing it to me which is how he tell's me it is time for some Kibble! I had to use an older pic of it because Teddy has made some 'adjustments' to it...
Next week's color is Green for St Patty's day!

There are so many wonderful violety things in the sea! They are amazing! Of course the pics of Moose are the best though!

I felt like I was swimming in the ocean with you. I had a jug like that all of about 20 minutes before I just chewed the rope apart and the food fell out. lol =)
ReplyDeleteWow, what amazing undersea pix. It sure is a beautiful world under there. But the one of Moose with the kibble jug is great - what big teethers you have, Moose!
ReplyDeleteSee ya!
