FrankenMoose is Home!

Moose's surgery went fine and he is home. The masses were consistent with a lipoma and a hair follicle cyst and they are both removed. A 3rd one was biopsied a year ago and is shrinking so we left it alone. His urinalysis showed nothing wrong. He got his teeth cleaned and I am glad to know that none of his teeth were fractured from the can or crate incident.

His nails are the shortest I have ever seen them which is impossible to do when he is awake!

He is still pretty loopy and whining when he is awake and snoring when he is asleep. He slipped a little when he tried to get into the car at the vet because I did not realize that he was that out of it :-( He is not limping but he is on pain meds so hopefully he won't be limping when they wear off.

For now his name is FrankenMoose since he has 3 shaved patches and is all stitched up. He can probably reach the incision on the top of his paw so he has to wear his innertube for now.

Good Night!

I'm going to nominate you for the BESTEST HALLOWEEN COSTUME EVER!!!! It takes a very competitive pup to go under the knife just to make your Frankenmoose costume as believable as possible!!!

I hope that souped up Halloween Candy they gave you at the Vetty is helping with the ouchies & owies...

I have that exact blue inflatable collar as well...Makes me look like a sailor!

  6. Moose! I am so glad that everything went OK. I think your shaved spots are quite sporty. You should have had them carve your name or something. But that inner tube has to go. I mean, you look like a big dope!

My nails got all shaved super short when I had the sleepy medicine too. What's up with that?

You went to the dentist too? Hope your mom brought her plastic money along.

  7. aww poor moose! At least you get to wear a cute inflatable ring, and not the regular cone of shame darwin had to wear. She hated it.
Hope your recovery goes quick and smooth!

  9. Aw, Moose - am glad you're home and that ordeal is over! Your tube collar thing looks quite cool actually - much nicer than the horrible cone collar I had to wear after my operations.

My human says she wishes somebody could cut my nails that short! She is always trying but they are really hard and she gets blisters everytime she tries to clip them - and because they're dark, she can never see the quick and has cut them several times and made me bleed everywhere!

Hey - I can't believe they're calling you a "senior" doggie just for a bit of grey on the muzzle - gosh, that would make me ancient then, since most of my face has gone grey!!

I hope they sort your food out. My human says she is a bit suspicious of those "prescription diets" coz she thinks they are often just marketing gimmicks by pet food companies and brain-washed vets! Anyway, I hope you find something that's yummy and healthy soon! (have you ever thought of the raw diet?)

    Slobbers,

ps. we're being naughty coz my human isn't really supposed to be typing much yet but we just can't resist commenting on our favourite blogs! :-)

  10. Wow, looks like you had the full treatment - a kind of Mayo clinic experience.

We know that inner tube might be uncomfortable -- but that shade of blue against your shiny black fur is just fabulous!!!

Frankenmoose or not, we're very you're home safely!!!

  11. Wooos Moose, I am sorry you had to spend the day at the vet getting poked and prodded and now you have to wear a silly collar? I think mine would have popped a within a few minute of me waking up. I am glad to hear your tests came out well.~ puppy kisses for another senior dog like me!~

  14. BARK! Moose we are so glad you are ok. Mommy was so far gone in her saddy's, she forgot to check on the other doggies. That thing around your head looks like a big yummy donut. Dont you want to eat it? And your nails are so short. Mommy is trying to figure out how to get mine done, as it scares her to do them, but she cant spend extra hooman paper right now. BARK! Sasha the princess!

  15. Moose, you look like you're ready for the pool with that inner tube thing on. (floaties?) Does your v.e.t have a weird sense of humor putting a collar on you that's that big? Besides, he tried to turn you into a patchwork quilt or something. What next, pierced ears? Nose ring, maybe? How 'bout a tattoo? Better watch that guy.

    Get well soon,
    Behr Behr :)
