Vicious dog alert!

Moose here, I wanted momma to post about this vicious dog that has moved in next door to us but she just laughed and called me a chicken hound so I decided to get on here myself to alert everyone. Before I went to stay in Miami there was a black and white puppy next door named Pup Pup who never bothered me and when TeddyNo was here we even used to try to play through the fence which made him bark like crazy. But when we came back a week ago there was another Pup Pup and I am so scared of her! Her name is Snow White and she is Pup Pup's littermate who was the runt and born deaf. Momma tries to convince me it is ok and says that she is just a sweet little puppy but I am not buying it. Since we got home I will ask my momma to let me out and then when she opens the door I suddenly remember about the dreaded Snow White and freeze in my tracks. Momma shot some video that I am posting so you can see for yourself how ferocious this Snow White is! Momma says that even if she were ferocious that she can't get through the fence but just to be safe I will only go to the back yard if momma comes with me, other wise I think it is safest if I just do my business quickly in the side yard and only when I really need to go out. I am not sure what I am going to do because I really miss hanging out in my back yard and I won't even drink out of my fountain because it is close to the fence where the little terror hangs out. Does anyone have any suggestions? In the mean time be on the look out for this pup, she is terrifying!

Moose's Mom here... I have never seen him act this way and have no idea what caused it. He loves every dog he meets and only runs off if they do something aggressive to him but he was afraid of her the first time he saw her and I have never seen her do anything but bark at him and it is a puppy play bark to my ears. I am hoping to get the owner to bring her out of the yard on a leash on neutral ground so he can see she is ok but I have not seen the owner outside in a few days. Unfortunately these pups are outside in the yard 24/7 but they are very friendly with me. Anyone have any ideas on why he is suddenly scared or what to do about it?

  1. Hi Moose! Snow White is so friendly, she likes your mom so she will like you, for sure! Don't be scared, you can do it! We loved your photo behind the door!

  2. Moose! This is a big puzzle.
I wonder if that little pup has some sort of sickies that you can smell. Us labs don't get scared easily. Something is up.

I like the idea of going someplace neutral so your mom can protect you if she turns into an alien or something.

  6. OK Moose here's the deal! Snow White looks nice, but maybe a little too close for comfort huh? She needs to step back and give the handsome Moose some space - back off and let us handsome guys be the first to make a move, whats with these ladies...shhhh I think she is in love with you...

  7. Could there have been something in the yard that scared Moose? A snake or something like that?

  8. Hi Moose,
We hope you get over your fear of Snow White soon. We were scared of these little Jack Russell Terriers that lived next door when we moved in to our house. Momma would laugh at us because they were literally so small that they could fit in our large mouths had we wanted to snack on them, but instead we would run away from the fence every time they barked at us and run inside. Momma started feeding us treats and doing tricks at the fence with us all at the same time and eventually we warmed up to the idea of sitting next to the rats (err we mean terriers) even if they were on the other side of the fence. Maybe Moose senses she is different due to her deafness and may fear her because he just doesn't ubderstand what is different about her. We hope things get better between the puppies and Moose!

  10. Hi Moose,

I'm a big chicken dog too sometimes! I get scared of the silliest things...

Maybe if your human tried to ignore your behaviour (like not call attention to it) but just went out to the fence by herself a lot and acted all happy and excited there, then you might eventually go over (voluntarily) to take a look. And also, if she gives you lots of treats and praise whenever you make any attempt to go near the fence - even just outside! So you can associate positive things with the fence...maybe even try to feed your meals there??

But she should ignore you completely and not reassure you if you show any kind of scaredy behaviour. I think the less there is a big deal made of it, maybe the sooner you'll get over it? Also, I think meeting Snow White on neutral territory is a good idea - help you get to know each other! :-)

    Good luck!

    Honey the Great Dane
ps. I have added you to my blogroll now - I hope we can visit each other often!

  11. MOOSE! HELP!
Momma says I am going to get tutored on Thursday and I am scared. Will it hurt? She says afterwards that I will need to "stay quiet." How is that possible?

I asked why Mango doesn't have to get tutored too and she told momma said to mind my own business. Is that fair?

Momma says I might need to sleep in a crate instead of on my couch, but I haven't slept in a crate in a long time and I don't know if I even fit anymore.

    Kisses,
    Dexter

  12. MOOSE! Momma talked to my breeder lady and she agreed with Master that I don't need to get tutored since I am such a happy chap the way I am. So I guess maybe that is something I can look forward to sometime later, but not this week.

Thanks for replying, though. Sorry that TeddyNo got the infection. Hard to keep an active guy calm. I don'e know how you did it with your more serious problems.

    Kisses,
    Dexter

P.S. It does make me a little sad, though because it means I can't go to daycare or doggie camp. Sigh

  13. This is somewhat reminiscent of the time our next-door neighbors pitched a tent in their backyard. For WEEKS, Charlie refused to go outside unescorted. Eventually life returned to normal. Eventually.

  14. Heyo Moose mate,

I completely understand what you're feeling, mate, I honestly do.

I know of a very cute Chihuahua but Boy! does he scare me. He growls a lot and sometimes he does it silently so the humans will not see it and so he will be cute in their eyes, but I tell you he is mean.

If it was just up to me I will steer clear of him with the widest berth. Unless and until he gets his manners back in!

So my advise to you is to trust your instinct. We're not falling for the cuteness factor!

    been xposed,
    O

  15. I love the picture of him behind the door, adorable! He seems so scared, thats weird. I think I heard somewhere that deaf dogs have a different bark intonation that we can't pick up on but dogs can. Maybe that is his deal, could just be confused and thinking she is an alien or something! :)
