Young hot blonde and spayed? My kinda girl! So I sent momma to get her yesterday and now she his hanging out here at the Moose Lodge!
I was soooo excited to meet her when momma brought her home! She was named Paula by the shelter but I guess they never told her that was her name so I told Momma to call her Bella instead.
Here is a little video of our meeting.
She is a very nice girl I suppose but she is not really into me or any of my really awesome toys so I am not sure what to do with her. She is crazy into my momma though. I told her I would share my momma for a little while but she said she wants my momma all to her self! Sheesh!
Since she is a little on the chubby side Momma stopped at the store with her and got some special diet ('Healthy Weight') food. She was not too excited about it though so momma put some of my super terrific kibbles in and she decided it was not so bad!
Remember the other day how I said it was going to be doubly important to have a fenced yard? Well unfortunately the fence did not get put back on Friday so momma had to jury rig the pieces back together. It is not pretty and Momma says we still have to be chaperoned the whole time but at least she does not have to keep Bella on a leash. As if! That little girl has not left momma's side so I am not sure where momma thinks she would run off to!
Note from Momma: Bella was one of five (unrelated) labbies that appeared at animal services this week and were set to be put down because they were not adopted in time. The wonderful LRRoF coordinator for Miami Dade managed to find foster homes for all five which is a major accomplishment since we are always at capacity here in SoFla. I can't tell you how heartbreaking it is to get emails from her with pictures of these beautiful labbies ready to be euthanized while people are going to puppy mills or breeders to get new ones. I get these emails a couple of times a month and wish I could foster every time but can't always do it. If you know of anyone looking for a lab please tell them to try their local lab rescue or check the shelters before shopping for them. If you want to know more about Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida or would like to help support this cause please visit their website. I know lots of you bloggers have your own rescue causes which is wonderful, they all need your support so wherever you chose to give or volunteer I know it is most appreciated!

Moose - tell your Momma we said thank you for helping Bella. Puppy mills should all be shut down and we think it would be a good idea for breeders to have to STOP until the shelters are all empty.
ReplyDeleteMoosie, That is so kind of you to share your momma with Bella. You're doing what our mom calls a "mitzvah" -- and we love you both for saving this beautiful girl from a sad fate.
ReplyDeleteDo you think your momma will fall in love with her the way she has with you???
Wirey love,
Jake and Just Harry
Moose you are such a good Moose : ) She looks like a lot of fun. Mom is doing a wonderful thing by allowing her into your home, but you Moose are a real gentleman and Bella will surely take a liking to you in a few days!!! Have fun with her!
ReplyDeleteShe is a cutie! Great idea to get that weight off her, so she has a chance for healthy knees!!

Oh, how incredibly exciting! And she's a looker too! I'm sure it's only a matter of time until she warms up to your handsome self. Can't wait to see what sort of mischief you manage to get into with your new accomplife! Congratulations!

Hey Moose, That Bella is a real beauty. Are you going to invite her to go to Twix's DATE NIGHT??? I'll bet that would make you Very much popular with her. Are you two going to get married forever???
ReplyDeleteBella seems like a real sweetie. We're glad you & your mama are helping her out!
ReplyDeleteI go away for a couple of days and you get some big blond moving in to your lodge? She is totally hot! You are one lucky guy.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
P.S. Momma is starting to think that PeeWee is eating rocks at daycare and not here since she only finds it in his poop a day or two after daycare. Will have to check on that.
Wow Moose - you are definitely a good gentleman to share your ma with the beautiful Bella. I know she appreciates the fact that your mama is overworking hard to help not only one, but several doggies who might not be here, but for her and her friend's efforts. Sending monger KUdos to you all.
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs xoxoxoxo

how great of you and your momma to open up the moose lodge to another labrafriend! it must be so exciting to have a girlfriend around! any thought of keeping her forever?!
ReplyDeleteYou and your mom deserve lots of licks for helping Bella. Have fun with your new gal pal
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
Awhh, she looks like a sweetheart! Congrats on the new friend :)
ReplyDeleteHow kind of your mom (and you) to watch over Bella until she finds her new home. I think maybe she had been around too many puppies at the shelter, so that's why she needs some extra mom time for a while!
ReplyDeleteOh Moose! I have to say - that is one of the funniest posts you've written! I really laughed = especially at the bit where you said she didn;t look like her pictures!!! hey - I was going to say - I'm blonde and spayed too (although I have to admit, am not young) - would I make your grade?! :-)
ReplyDeleteNo seriously - that is WONDERFUL what your human is doing to look after Bella until she can find a forevere home. You are so lucky to love with a kind, generous human. My human would love to foster too but now that we're living in rented homes, it's hard enough getting the landlord to accept ME never mind another doggie! but she hopes in the future when we can have our own house again, then we can maybe help to foster some other doggies.
I hope you & your human help Bella regain her figure a bit!
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
Oh Moose - forgot to say - whenever I see videos of you with other Labs - I'm always convinced you have some Dane in you coz your head is so Dane-like & even your body too and you just don't look like other Labs so much!
ReplyDeleteLabs are the best! Great blog.
ReplyDeleteCome check out my adventures with my black lab named Sage!

ReplyDeleteYou and your mom are just awesome for helping out a rescue! We are all rescues that were very happy to find our forever home. Special Kudos to your momma for putting up with you two crazy labbies!
Land of Lincoln Labbies
OMG what a catch Moose!
ReplyDeleteShe is pretty, and to be honest its nice to see a girl that has some "meat on her bones" hehe.
She'll be in fab shape in no time!
For a second I thought you were referring to Date Night! But a real Girlfuriend - FANTASTIC!!!!!
Congratulations!

Good work rescuing Bella, Moose! So many dogs need homes and don't get them. :-(
ReplyDeleteWow Moose, a new girlfriend? That's great! Your mom is super for saving her life. Maybe once she settles in more she will want to start playing with you.
ReplyDeleteWe think she is very pretty... Sort of looks like our cousin,Daisy, complete with "curves!" We couldn't tell if you are fostering or thinking about keeping her around as a sibling? That's what it kind of sounded like!
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping the two of you get along really well for however long she stays! The County Corgis
