Call me Señor Moose!

Momma has been calling me Señor Moose again. She first started calling me that about a year ago when the vet mistakenly labeled me a 'senior' and after some discussion it was decided that as a gentleman residing in a spanish speaking area (Miami) it is only natural to address me with the courtesy title of "Señor" so that is clearly why the vet and now momma are calling me that. It is definitely not related to my being a labradog of advanced years.

Sure I recently turned NINE years old but I know for a fact that you are not a senior until you are 55 years old. Momma tried to say I was 70 people years old because she found this chart (she loves graphs...Geek!).

But I took a quiz on the internets (what could be more scientific?) and it said I was 38.4 people years!

She is always taking inventory of my grey hairs too. As you can see in the first photo I do have a few more grey furs than I used to. But just the other day momma noticed the appearance of a small patch of grey on my beak! Do you see it?

It is in with my whiskers... It is tiny but momma thinks it is most curious since it appeared so suddenly and has all black furs around it...

Whatever! I  am still younger than Señorita Swissie (11years old!) ...
... and Señorita Jetta 9 years + 4months (3 1/2 months OLDER than me!).
Plus I can not help but mention that in my birthday post I got lots of comments about how I don't look 9 years old. So that is proof that I am Señor Moose not senior Moose!

  1. Golly! That chart says I am beyond middle age! Hey! Grey fur happens. I have it between my toes too. You are still a strapping young thing as far as I can tell.

  7. um, thanks.... thanks a lot for giving that link that made me spend 87 minutes on EACH DOGGIE! geesh...

juno is .1 years OLDER but that's cuz of her HD she can't wrestle and run too much for hard workout! and she's a little overweight (maybe)...

Loki is 8.8 years YOUNGER... but that's cuz he's cracker and can do his 15 minutes 3x day w/o anyone around...

btw: loki has grays on his muzzle and he's ONLY 3! so gray doesn't mean a thing Mooses (i love that name Mooses as opposed to Moose...)

  10. We're going to take a look at the chart site, but mama takes issue with it lumping ALL dogs over 80 lbs together as if they were the same. What poppycock! We're in the 80-lb range, which mama considers mid-sized for doggies. There is an enormous difference between the aging of mid-sized doggies versus large doggies [Great Danes, Mastiffs, Irish Wolfhounds, Newfoundlands, etc]! We're a couple of years younger than you, but we consider you, and us, to be firmly in the "middle-aged" category and years away from being seniors.

And mama agrees with the comment that the gray hairs indicate wisdom, not necessarily age! Of course, mama started turning gray when she was about 15; it was genetic for her, so maybe it's genetic for you. And the gray hairs definitely makes you look distinguished.

  11. Hey, you are only as old as you feel! We Frenchies unfortunately age very quickly (9 is ANCIENT for us). One of the down sides of having lustrous black furs like us - it shows each and every grey hair!!

  12. Well, I is grey all over so I wouldn't worry about it. Auntie Penny had lots of grey, some in her ears now! She 13, and she said it makes her distinguished and able to boss me around. hm.

  13. Have no fear, handsome -- you may be well into middle age now, but remember: with age comes wisdom, right? (He said, well aware of the many gray hairs in his own muzzle...)

  14. Hey Moose - speaking as another "senior doggie" - you're definitely only as old as you feel! Whats a few grey hairs, huh? :-)

My human likes those graphs too!! She thinks the ones that do it by weight are better than the ones that do it by breed coz there can be such a big difference in size, within one breed. I mean - you're very big for a Lab, aren't you? According to those charts, I'm about 53yrs in human years - a 'mature lady' - ha! ha!
